New Decade. Same Painting Grind?

Even if you aren’t one of those “New Year’s Resolution People,” the beginning of a new decade must have you asking a few questions

#1 – How will I increase my income this year (or will it be the same or worse than this year?)

#2 – What will it take to make my business less stressful (instead of constant fire-fighting?)

#3 – When can I finally get home at a decent hour (and go on a vacation without anxiety?)

#4 – Why doesn’t my business look like what I envisioned (its been years of hard work!)

Trust me, you are not alone in asking these questions.

The truth is these are questions ALL painting contractors
ask themselves at some point – the dawn of a new decade simply presses the
point.

Here’s another fact: Most contractors ASK these questions…
few really SEEK the answers.

In the end, this is a shame for one simple reason: There is NOTHING new under the sun in painting.

Every income, operations, time-management, marketing, sales
and scaling problem has been solved.

Not once, not twice, but thousands of times.

The issue is that most painting contractors work in
isolation. The few that seek advice from peers get bad advice… recycled again
and again.

If you really want to get ahead in the painting business,
look around at what the painters are doing in your market. Make an intense
study of it… THEN DO THE OPPOSITE!

INSTEAD… Surround yourself with owners who realize the
business-end of the business is where the money is made. Grant financially
successful owners a “hunting license” so they can look at your business and
candidly help you improve.

Of course, finding these owners is challenging. Rarely are
the grouped together. Rarer still are they all in once place where a structure is
provided to facilitate business growth.

Rare yes. Unheard of, no.
